Art

All students undertake Art Craft and Design in years 7, 8, and 9.

These middle school students experience a range of art experiences.

Students are encouraged to experiment with different media and ways of viewing the world.  Students are encouraged to draw their ideas.  In addition they use technology for research and design.

Year 7

Students are introduced to ceramics.

They work in groups to make paintings.

Each student researches a famous artist.

Year 8

Students make drawings using the concept of linear perspective.

They create ceramics using traditional pinch pots.

They learn to blend with pastel, pencil and charcoal.

They present a poster on architecture.

Using medieval times as a starting point they construct shields and castles.

Year 9

Students are directed to develop their skills in drawing and painting.

They display their work and are encouraged to work on a large scale.

Students continue with sculpture in clay and balsa wood.

In senior secondary students build on their skills and work on projects which are the result of thinking and planning.

Year 10

Students work in teams on projects, which are designed to enhance the school environment.

They produce murals.

Work on enterprises.

Window displays in the main street.

Projects which involve cross age tutoring eg., face painting.

Stage I Art

Students create a folio of work using a variety of inspiration.

They research issues in art and the practices of contemporary artists.

Stage I Craft

Students develop skills and techniques in craft processes.

They research craft practices in one craft form (furniture design) and contemporary craft people.

Students at Year 12

Students choose year length courses of art or craft practical or visual art studies.

They exhibit their work at the end of the year in the Year 12 art/craft exhibition.
