I am a farmer and the current KAS Governing Council Chairperson, taking over from Wayne Lehmann in 2007.
My wife is Carmel and we have four children who have all attended Keith Area School. Emma is still attending the school.
I have enjoyed my seven years on the Governing Council and I look forward to my new position and working with the school community. I encourage other parents to be involved.

I am Treasurer and Vice Chair of KAS Governing Council.
I am married to Sally and we live with our children Brianna, Jeremy and Megan at Coombe, 20km NW of Keith.
With 3 children at school I was keen to be involved as a parent in school management so I nominated for Governing Council and was subsequently appointed. That was 4 years ago. I developed an interest in school funding and expenditure through the Finance Committee, which has led to my current role as Treasurer.
It has been an interesting journey, learning about school management and policy, working within the DECS framework and sharing a sense of achievement with the other parent and staff reps on Governing Council. There have been some frustrations along the way as well.
My goal as a Governing Councillor is to work towards using our School’s resources in a way that provides quality education for our children in a positive environment. We are well on the way but there is always room for improvement.
I would encourage you as parents to be involved in the process. Consider nominating for Governing Council or one of its committees. Fill out the feed back form in the newsletter. Attend meetings. Feel free to talk with me or one of the other members on Governing Council about school issues important to you and your family.
