KAS Sports Day

On Friday 24th October Keith Area school held its annual Sports Day on the town oval (due to a sprinkler system being installed on school oval). This event was meant to be held at the beginning of the year but due to a heat wave and time restrictions the Sports Day had to be postponed.

The first events, Long jump, Triple jump and Javelin were held on Thursday due to lack of space and no sand pit at the town oval. However, with all these distractions aside the day was very successful.

Sportsday was opened by guest speaker Anton Wurfel who had successfully competed in three commonwealth games winning Silver and Bronze medals in rifle bore.

After the war cries were sung with gusto (Stirling taking the title) the R-2s began their sprints which was entertaining viewing.

Throughout the day students competed in a variety of track and field events as well as a number of novelty events. All students competed extremely well and displayed positive sportsmanship.

Overall Maddison won the day, closely followed by Stirling and then Tolmer.

Thank you to all the parents who helped and passionately supported the students throughout the day.
