Keith Area School is a

KAS Sports Day

Interschool Athletics

Each year, Keith Area School competes in the annual Upper South East Interschool Athletics Carnival. Students are selected for each age group based on their performances on Sports Day. With a greater number of age groups available at Interschool Athletics, many students are given an opportunity to compete, not just those who finished first or second. The carnival is comprised of teams from Keith, Karoonda, Tintinara, Coomandook and Meningie. A winner is decided based on overall points scored for the carnival and by using a handicap system to ensure bigger schools don’t have an unfair advantage. Keith Area School has an excellent record at this event and has won the last 4 overall points shields in a row.

SSSSA Athletics

SSSSA Athletics is the pinnacle competition for secondary school students. Once Interschool Athletics is complete, a team of the best students from each of the schools is selected to compete at the annual SSSSA Athletics Championships. We combine to form the Upper South East team, of which Keith often has a strong contingent of competitors.

SAPSASA Athletics

SAPSASA Athletics is the pinnacle competition for primary school students.  Once the Keith Area School Sports Day is complete, students are invited, based on their result, to compete against other students from the Upper South East region at the SAPSASA Athletics Trials Day.  The schools involved include: Keith, Kingston, Lucindale, Naracoorte, Naracoorte South, Francis, Padthaway, Sunrise, Mundulla and Bordertown. From this day of competition, students are selected, based on results, to form the Upper South East Region at the SAPSASA Athletics Carnival held annually in Adelaide.
