Keith Area School is a

KAS Swimming Carnival

Interschool Swimming

Each year, Keith Area School competes in the annual Upper South East Interschool Swimming Carnival. Students are selected for each age group based on their performances at the KAS Swimming Carnival. With a greater number of age groups available at Interschool Swimming, many students are given an opportunity to compete and not just those who finished first or second. The carnival is comprised of teams from Keith, Karoonda, Tintinara, Coomandook, Lameroo and Meningie. A winner is decided based on overall points scored for the carnival and by using a handicap system to ensure bigger schools don’t have an unfair advantage. Keith Area School has been extremely successful at this event.

SSSSA Swimming

SSSSA Swimming is the pinnacle competition for secondary school students. Once Interschool Swimming is complete, a team of the best students from each of the schools is selected to compete at the annual SSSSA Swimming Championships. We combine to form the Upper south East team of which Keith often has a strong contingent of competitors.

SAPSASA Swimming

SAPSASA Swimming is the pinnacle competition for primary school students.  During Term 1, students at Keith Area School are invited to participate in the SAPSASA Swimming Trials held at Bordertown.  This is open to any student who competes regularly at club level.  The schools involved include: Keith, Kingston, Lucindale, Naracoorte, Naracoorte South, Francis, Padthaway, Sunrise, Mundulla and Bordertown.  From this trials day, students are selected, based on results, to represent the Upper South East region at the SAPSASA Swimming Carnival held annually in Adelaide.
